Scholarship Student Files 1951-1967; 1951-1963.

This series comprises files pertaining to individual international students whose educational pursuits were sponsored by the United Lutheran Church in America (ULCA). The records are from 1951-1967 with the majority being generated from 1951-1963. Each file contains primarily correspondence to and from the student. Matters discussed in the correspondence include initial plans to come to the United States for study, financial needs, travel requirements, and basic logistics for acclimating to new surroundings. In addition to the correspondence, there are also files containing medical evaluations, transcripts, and government applications forms for study in the United States. Students were from Hong Kong, Japan, India, Liberia, Argentina, and British Guyana. Records in this collection may contain sensitive material. Access to the collection is at the discretion of the archivist. Records are arranged alphabetically by students' last names.
